Australink Australia was proud to host the Dairy Association of China Business Exploratory Mission to Australia from 3 – 10 November 2013.

The mission was led by Mr. Gu Jicheng, Secretary General of the Dairy Association of China and Mr. Li Dong, Director of the Dairy Association of China.

The mission included 20 member companies from the Dairy Association of China and the delegation visited Australia for 10 days taking part in various activities within the Dairy Industry in Australia.

The purpose of the mission was to educate the group about the Australian Dairy Industry and strengthen co-operation between Australia and China.

On the first day of the visit Australink Australia hosted a formal Government and Industry welcome event at the Victoria Government Head Office of Investment. The group was led by Australink Australia’s Company Directors Mr. Yejing Wang, Mr. Christian Wang and General Manager Mr. Jason Russo.

The delegation was welcomed and greeted by representatives from Dairy Australia including Sarah Xu, International market manager and Peter Myers.

Over the course of the mission the delegation visited one of the largest manufacturing sites in Victoria and some of the largest dairy farms in the Gippsland region.

Mr. Gu highlighted China will continue to have strong demand for Dairy products. Currently China’s per capita consumption is only half of the average in Asia, and less than 1/3 of the OECD average.

The delegation also had a detailed look at the Australian Dairy Industry and its full capabilities. Further discussion and analysis took place into stock breeding and genetics, quality and process control, pastures, feed and the range of dairy products that are produced in Australia.

The mission met with highly experienced farm manager Mike who discussed the sale of the operation as well as his experience in setting up farms in China and the Middle east.
Cows come in for milking during our visit to one of the largest dairy farms in the Gippsland region of Victoria.
